Laughing at the Foot of the Cross

From Red Krayola Wiki

Lyrics

Oh you need a mitten To catch a kitten Hiding with the food That was mostly bread When there is a bang Somewhere overhead That could be the gunfire Of cutthroats and thieves Of cutthroats and thieves Of cutthroats and thieves That could be the gunfire Of cutthroats and thieves

He can't find his pants In the dark that deceives Sharp claws shred and scratch Fuck the fucking cat Fuck the fucking cat Fuck the fucking cat

Looking for a match Shits himself in fear His face blood and tears The rest smeared with shit Hold onto the cat With clothes in a mitt

Oh you need a mitten To catch a kitten Poor fucker, they laughed His friends very soon Got off of the floor And said to the moon Why don't you clean up Put on a fresh shirt Pants and whatever ? hurt

Oh you need a mitten To catch a kitten Oh you need a mitten To catch a kitten Oh you need a mitten To catch a kitten

Chronology

Interpretations

Charles Harrison used the phrase "laughing at the foot of the cross" in his introduction to Art & Language in Practice Vol. 2.[1]

For much of the last three decades the name of Art & Language has been associated with the sound of laughter — and occasionally of snarling — at the foot of Modernism's cross.
