It Will Be (Delivered)
Lyrics
Out of personal compunction We ordinarily do not complain (complain) About the weather Just wait a minute And it'll change (it will change)
On the other hand We sometimes have A hard time holding our tongues (holding our tongues) About the workings of the government (the government)
And if you think of angels (ahhh) When you hear this song That would be just fine with us (ahhh)
There are places not to be When the bombs start to fall (bombs start to fall) You don't want to get carried away (carried away) By the time we got the numbers You'd wonder why went there at all But take a long-term view
And out of the blue (ahhh) Something you Didn't want anymore (ahhh) Will come to your door (ahhh)
It will be delivered! It will be delivered! It will be delivered! It will be delivered!
(Patchy clouds Scattered thunderstorms Near the Great Lakes And in northern Iowa Highs in the eighties Mostly sunny Hot in southern Illinois And Iowa)
Chronology
Introduction
- Mayo Thompson - vocals
- Stephen Prina - additional vocals
Interpretations
- 'The moody “It Will Be (Delivered),” which Thompson says is “a song about karma and guilt,” at first sounds a bit cracked, but by the end, with Thompson singing in a near falsetto over piano and chimes about suspicious government endeavors and the dignity of human activity, it achieves a certain grandeur.'[1]
