DG: We had performed part of [Victorine] in Tokyo in ’94 at P3 art and environment, a crazy performance space that was in the basement of a Zen temple. When we were doing the sound check a monk came down to ask us to proofread something he was translating into English.
CSY: He didn’t tell you to turn it down?
DG: No, he was really nice. It was an amazing show. Keiji Haino did a solo percussion performance.
CSY: Not like at brain-melting volume?
